How long does it take to install an Acorn stairlift?
It takes a varied amount of time for each model and home to install an Acorn stairlift, depending on the structure of your stairs and home. Acorn knows how valuable your time is, so we wouldn’t dare waste it. When your Acorn stairlift is made to fit the exact dimensions of your home, it can take less than an hour to install. No matter the staircase, installation will always be as fast as possible to get you and your lift up and running.
Before the Acorn installer leaves your home, they will always ensure that the stairlift has been extensively tested. Furthermore, they will demonstrate all of the stairlift’s functions to you--this ensures that you are absolutely satisfied with their service and are familiar with the lift’s operation. We are not rude house guests. Acorn makes sure to leave the home as clean and tidy as it was before.
How does an Acorn stair lift work?
An Acorn Stairlift works with the innovative technology of our rail and carriage system, ensuring a smooth ride. Acorn stairlifts are also powered by rechargeable batteries that charge automatically, ensuring a dependable lift that will still operate in the event of a power outage.
Is the stair lift easy to use?
We can say that the stairlift is easy to use with great confidence because Acorn Stairlifts is the only stairlift company in the world to earn the “Ease-of-use Commendation” from the Arthritis Foundation. With Acorn’s common-sense controls and remote control that includes only two self-explaining buttons, our stairlift’s simple and straightforward design allows everyone to use it with ease.

Once my stair lift is installed, will there be enough room for other people to use the staircase?
Once the stairlift is installed, there should be plenty of room for other people to use the staircase. The rail installation only requires 20cm, and the lift itself requires about 33cm (upfolded). However, any concerns you have will be addressed by Acorn’s knowledgeable surveyors during your free, no obligation home survey.
How long will it take for my stair lift to be delivered?
On average, it will take anywhere from 10 to 20 days for your stairlift to be delivered. However, depending on different factors such as the type of stairlift or area of installation in your home, delivery times will vary. Because Acorn stairlifts are manufactured in-house, we pride ourselves in being one of the speediest stairlift companies.
What is the aftercare, once I get my Acorn stairlift?
Once you get your Acorn stairlift, you automatically receive the 12-month Manufacturer’s Guarantee, which provides you with two annual visits, free of charge. The cover department will contact you about further after-care options for when your manufacturer cover expires.
What happens in the event of a power failure? Will I get stuck on my stairlift?
Acorn Stairlifts are battery operated and will continue to work in the event of a power failure. In fact, Acorn pioneered the use of DC power supplies (batteries) in stairlifts.
When designing the Acorn 130 Stairlift, its practical features were chosen because of the inherent safety benefits and ability to operate normally during a power failure. All Acorn Stairlifts competitors have followed suit and are now also offering a battery-powered product. The advantages of this technology end your nightmares of being stuck on the stairs!

If I agree to an appraisal, will they try to sell me something by force?
Under no circumstance. Acorn’s appraisal is absolutely free and in no way obliges you to commit to a purchase. Our Acorn assessors will only come to your home if you specifically request them to, so that you can inform them of your individual needs from the comfort of your own home.
As a courtesy of a visit from one of Acorn Stairlifts’ expertly trained assessors, you will learn exactly what sets us apart and why our stairlifts rise above those of other stairlift manufacturers.
After discussing your needs, the Acorn assessor will give you the run down on the different models of stairlifts that we offer, as well as the one they recommend that best fits your home.
Acorn assessors will then collect the exact measurements of your stairs, as well as evaluate any additional factors of your home that could affect installation. After thoroughly examining every aspect of your staircase, our assessor will sit down with you to discuss your personal and precise, FREE, no obligation quote. It is then entirely up to you to decide whether you want to partner with us to regain your independence with a life-changing lift.

Just like our customers, stairs come in a multitude of different sizes and shapes with different stair arrangements above or below, varied lengths and directions, landings between stairs, etc. No matter what kind of staircase you have, it is often possible to attach transfer platforms, construct “filling boxes,” use two stairlifts for straight stairs, or make other modifications to ensure your staircase gets the perfect fit.
